Reggae Lovers celebrate Joseph Hill Culture

The stage was well lit, the sound system -- crystal clear. And by 7 pm Root Reggae Lovers were arriving in great numbers at the Rising Phoenix (Akuma Village), off the John Evans Attah -Mills High Street in Accra, to pay tribute to one of reggae greats --Joseph Hill(Culture ) of blessed memory.
The event which took place last Friday night, 19th August 2016, attracted well known personalities in the reggae fraternity. Dignified personalities like Ahuma Ocansey Bosco a.k.a Daddy Bosco, Empress Mawuena Safy, Jah Gold a.k.a African Google, Yadman Dre Dre and Edwin Baffour a.k.a Emperor were among those that graced the occasion.
The atmosphere created was that of excitement as celebrants danced throughout the night to various songs performed by different talented artists.
Performances started with Seyram GH. With the help of his acoustic guitar he performed his own renditions of Joseph Hill's songs. Other talented artists like Jah Wyz, Osagyefo, GH Twins, Ras Kuuku, Add Yute, Iwan and others contributed immensely to occasion with their great performances.
In his short talk, Jah Gold briefly touched on the achievements of Joseph Hill, and how well his songs have impacted the world at large.
According to the host of 'Absolute Reggae' on Radio XYZ 93.1 fm, Nana Ntow The Reggae Bombardier, the show was organised to educate the masses on what Joseph Hill stood for.
"Joseph Hill has contributed immensely to the reggae industry by promoting peace, unity, love and harmony. So as we approach Election 2016 in Ghana, we deem it fit to plant that seed of consciousness in the minds of the masses in order maintain the peace that we enjoy," said Ntow.
Joseph Hill was born on 22nd January 1949 and he left his body on 19th August 2006.
The show was organised by Nana Ntow with support from Radio XYZ and Ghana Reggae Network. The DJ for the occasion was Ras Nene and the MC's were Jah Love and Conscious Queen of Pink Fm.
