REDfyah's Peace Love & Unity Concert Suffers Rain Disruption, Remedial Decision Taken

DAMONGO, Tamale --- Last Saturday night [24th] would have been a night the Damongo people felt the year's most euphoric musical experience when the complete ensemble for REDfyah's "Love Peace & Unity Concert" was successfully strung up and ready to rock off, but almighty nature suddenly rushed in harsh against such a much-awaited experience and disrupted the event with an angry heavy downpour. The rain got seriously torrential til it was far too late to even start a snippet performance.

Not that the weekend's weather wasn't studied right or the meteorological center's warning was ignored, the excuse is: there was no hint of rain up the sky the morn and noon hours when the ensemble was being strung up, so the technical crew assembled the equipment oblivious of the weather omen.

Were not the rain disruption, this year's "Love Peace Unity & Concert" would have attracted a very little close to or even over 3,000 people, breaking the previous Bole turnover which was 2,500. To still rock Damongo, the event was postponed to the next night [Sunday], but then again the ugly rain lolled out its mocking tongue even before the drummer touched his sticks.

News gathered from the South meant Red Fyah's "Peace Love Unity & Concert" wasn't a lone victim; several other sister events along the coastal stretch down south also suffered the same fate. In Accra even, very loud events like Iwan's Gaskiya album launch, Radio Gold's Ghana-Nigeria Peace Concert and others were also stopped by rain disruption.

Historically, RED FYAH's "Peace Love Unity & Concert" is stained with repeated rain interruption. The previous Bole edition was also disrupted by rain at the official night and the event had to be re-staged the next night, but unlike the Damongo re-restage, the Bole re-stage was successful as there was no rain the whole of the replacement night.

RED FYAH's "Love Peace Unity & Concert" is officially a September annual, but the organizers have now realized that September isn't in a fairly reliable season for the concert, because each staging suffers rain disruption. They've, therefore, decided to shift the event month from September to any of the dry season months. The above remedial decision is key to salvaging the future of "Peace Love Unity Concert" from the ever recurring notorious rain disruption history. The artistes lined up for this year's staging to support REDfyah were David John [Canada], David Pick [Australia] and the following home-based artistes: Osagyefo, Jahwi, Gandaranks, Mega Bush and Sabaasa. The female BVs were Habyba, Nana Ama and Nana Akua Amponsah. The event would have been facilitated by King Lagazee.

REDfyah's manager out of USA, Gina Minozzi, was unable to attend but was on track with every move. The joint sponsorship efforts was taken by Elaine Gypsy King and David Pick.
Other supporting organizations were The Reggae Mission and One Music Group in order to bring this massive two -day event to fruition.

Despite the weather disappointment, the over 30 odd industry mates the management bused to Damongo had a happy lodging even as the eco tour they took inside the Mole National Park was a thrilling experience for many --- It's probably the first time some of them ever saw elephants and the other animals in the wild.
