KONANA SPOTTED WITH OFORI AMPONSAH AND AKWABOAH
Afropop Dancehall has been through a lot of genuine and robust revolution lately in the past couple of years turning out eventually to become the new favourite genre for a lot of music loving fans in Ghana.
I remember some years back when both Afropop and Dancehall were both seen as International genres that wouldn't be easy to try. Then came the likes of Becca with “You lie to me”.
That song was fireworks, getting on the lips of a lot of ladies like a lipstick with the album which had amazing Afropop songs turn up.
Then Samini, who was already established in the Music industry in Dancehall started releasing Afropop dancehall tunes. It looked for a second like it was just a stroll in the park, a one night easy thing for Samini. But after later dropping hits like Sweet Mistake, which came out after rumors made waves that he had for himself a second wife, (“Lord Have Mercy”), I knew Afropop Dancehall was here to stay. In the sense that Samini was always (and still) branding himself as an African Dancehall King, so it was quite interesting to see him express his feelings through an Afropop song. Then it occurred to me, there is a catch! Afropop and Dancehall is being beautifully fused together as an awesome genre, wow!
Then came IWAN another crazy act who was being managed by Bulldog of Bullhouse Entertainment blazing the airways with Afropop Dancehall tunes.
Then of course came Nii Tacki Mensah known in the circles as Shatta Walle, even though not new in the music scene made his way back after a spell in Jamaica where he is said to have resided for a very long time. Shatta Wale, formerly known as Bandana came back better, stronger harder with songs like “Everybody likes my thing, dancehall King, Korle Gornor, and many more”. He’s no doubt a living legend in the history of Ghanain music.

How can we talk about all these great giants without mentioning the Afropop Dancehall Ashaiman boy “BHIM”, the BET African Act and multiple Award winner, Livingstone Korsi Atakla aka StoneBoy. Oh my God! Should we talk about Stoneboy? Ah Well!
The list of hit songs from him is endless. From his ghetto songs to him surfacing into the limelight with hit songs like Baafira to the more recent one People Dey, Stoneboy has really excelled and proven that when one perseveres anything is possible under the sun.
Then comes the Original, the music “corresponder”(if there is a word like that), the Afropop Highlife magician, the one all the well established acts mentioned above should be scared of.
Augustine Opare aka “KONANA”
He’s the Internationally acclaimed Highlife Afro-pop dancehall artiste, who is on the other hand taking the whole Afropop Dancehall revolution to the next level. He’s added an amazing twist to this whole revolution by fusing it with Highlife. Oh my God!
If you haven’t listened to any of his songs yet, then I guess it might just be fair enough to say you’re living in the dark ages of Planet earth’s music. Or better still It’s either you’re an alien who has lost his way to this planet, or an anonymous spy from space. “Hihihihi”
He recently released Ahodwo (click here to download) which was premiered here on HolyKey1 for the first time. and earlier on before Christmas released Naase As)re with another crazy act called King Vuvu Kindly check them out. (click here to download)
Konana is in my opinion for lack of better words “a beast” in music. He’s all about music, it’s written all over his body when you see him. It might interest you to know though that Konana is a very successful Banker; Yeah you heard me, a very successful Banker balling his way into the music industry with no sweat. I’ve seen a lot of artiste record in studios and perform on stages nut I swear, Konana is just exceptional. He hardly writes his songs and easily delivers on any beat you give him. Obour KO, an artiste, producer and sound engineer of Namarico Studios (who recently released his Kokooko Album here) who has worked with Konana described him as a “wizard” in music, that’s scary!
Konana has performed with great artistes both locally and internationally on several big stages and worked with a lot of music giants. But just a while ago HolyKey1 your number 1 blog for Entertainment and more chanced upon these two pics of Konana with Akwaboah and Ofori Amponsah ,
two great Highlife Afropop musicians which made me tremble. Just imagine for a second these three gods coming together for a song. Eish! Looord have Mercy!
Only God can stop such a song from hitting the charts hard.
