Come Friday April 14, Northern Region reggae icon REDfyah and his ABAGBRRR Band would stage a charity concert dubbed “Help The Orphans And Needy Concert 2017” Concert in Sawla, a suburb of Tamale. The concert is scheduled to be held in the Sawla Community Center.
According to REDfyah, the “Help The Orphans And Needy Concert” is coming off as a musical treat activity to glorify the Gonjaland Youth Association’s 41st Annual Congress. He is a Gongaland royal and so is contributing his concert to the congress as a charity fundraiser to aid the execution of the association’s social causes and responsibilities.
As REDfyah does it for each and every concert he stages, there is a string of supporting artistes readied for his “Help The Orphans And Needy Concert 2017” too, but this time the supportive performance list has a revised selection officially consisting of Iwan, Habyba, Jakhal, GandaRanks, Agrowura, Daanga, Kawute, Jamaldini, Boy MJ, T.I.P, Fada Brownxy, Jawru, Mega Bush. Surely, some home artistes not yet listed on the event’s main bill would be offered a performance slot to showcase their talents to the Sawla community audience.
Donation at the gate is 10 cedis, a calmly easy cash effort anyone can offer to support the band’s core concert cause. The gate proceeds would go for charity to assist the needy and the underprivileged within some deprived communities.
Delving into his gig history, REDfyah has been staging own community concerts since 2014, the most previous one being his “Love, Peace & Unity Concert” which he held in Damango --- a disciplinary concert which was staged shortly before Ghana’s national election with the chief aim of curbing electoral violence within Damango and its environs. Not so long after the Damango concert, REDfyah and his ABAGBRRR Band travelled to Nigeria for the “Africa Meets Reggae And World Music International Festival”.
REDfyah’s “Help The Orphans And Needy Concert 2017” is supported by the Reggae Mission and Struc_Links Ghana.
