[Updates On KOJO KOMBOLO]: Wayne Wonder Acknowledgment, Support For Palestine, Album Release Hold, Miscellaneous

AUTHOR: [Regula Rebel, CEO of 13play.net]

Since his stay back home in Ghana after returning from Switzerland last year, Kojo Kombolo has been working hard in the studio daily, he’s rarely seen out on the road that most of his fans have missed his fiery stage performance --- but he keeps releasing new songs at a calculated rational inter-release interval with a lessened stage presence frequency.

Personally, Kojo has hidden himself from the media front for some time now, as far as social interaction goes, but just last Sunday his name suddenly resurfaced in the news air when Jamaica’s Wayne Wonder acknowledged him in an exclusive interview with King Lagazee on Hitz fm [Ghana].

King Lagazee had asked Wayne Wonder if he knew of any Ghanaian reggae-dancehall artiste that has crossed the border into the Jamaican music scene to their recognition. Wayne verified right away with King Lagazee if Stonebwoy was a Ghanaian, and Lagazee confirmed he is. Then Wayne fumbled trying to mention another Ghanaian reggae-dancehall artiste he has recognized, but he just couldn’t get the name right. Upon Wayne’s vivid description of that next artiste, King Lagazee could relate that that was Kojo Kombolo in Wayne’s picture and asked Kojo Kombolo?. Wayne Wonder confirmed yes, that is Kojo Kombolo.  So, Stonebwoy and Kojo Kombolo made it to Wayne Wonder’s recognition memory as two of the very few Ghanaian reggae-dancehall artistes that he has recognized so far.

It was a good news for Kojo Kombolo that a great artiste like Wayne Wonder has recognized his works from afar. Kojo took it to facebook  with the timeline post “Real recognize real”.

Another move that is bringing Kojo Kombolo back at the news front is his tomorrow’s performance at the “African Voices for Palestine” concert  which is coming off at the National Theater, Accra. Stonebowy. Kojo Kombolo, Knii Lante, Fancy Gadam, Iwan, Edem, Ras Kuuku and a host of others are performing at the concert in solidarity of the people of Palestine.

Currently, Kojo Kombolo has a new album up his sleeve. It was officially scheduled to be released on 25th May, but the release was pushed to a future yet unannounced date due to some urgent managerial decisions. The album, dubbed “Ancestral Code” was mixed and mastered in Jamiaca and it happens to be the very best in sound that Kojo has worked out so far. Some of the songs were produced in Ghana, others were done in Switzerland. Only the final work was done in Jamaica.

On the miscellaneous flipside, Kojo Kombolo comes on Radio Gold 90.5 every Saturday as a program producer to Jaffi to bring to the masses the Sabbath’s best in good reggae music. Also, Kojo is considering a move to bring back his annual concert dubbed “Fire Fest” among other fringe commitments that relate to his career.

Fans are to keep their fingers crossed and look forward to a series of entertainment treats from Kojo Kombolo, starting anytime soon through to the year end, and beyond.
