Video which led to conviction of Buju Banton released by US authorities
The undercover video used by United States prosecutors to convict Jamaican dancehall star Mark 'Buju Banton' Myrie for his role in a conspiracy to sell cocaine has been unsealed.
The 2009 video was made public following an appeal from American cable news channel ABC.
For years, the US authorities argued that this key piece of evidence, which allegedly shows Buju Banton's last meeting with the informant, should stay under seal, hidden from public view.
In the 49-second video, four men are clearly visible focusing on and attending to a packaged item on a table inside a warehouse in Sarasota, Florida.
Eventually, this video along with testimonies dropped Buju in prison with a 10-year sentence, convicted of two counts for his role in a conspiracy to sell cocaine in 2011.
But Banton has maintained his innocence, insisting that he never intended to go through with a drug deal.
