Born in nigeria on the 3rd of December 1973,grew up in ghana,now based in Germany. Odey edu popularly known as “Commander messiah” is from yala local government area of cross River State, born into late rtd sageant Gabriel teacher edu and Cristiana edu family at 190 battalion owode ogun state ,who are popularly known for their outstanding traditional dance and music in their community were there hail from.
He is married with four kids.
Commander messiah is one of the most promising voice of african continent.
The warmth of his pitch and his sense of melody are the enlightenment of his inspired songs.
His growth is due to the participation as bassist and later lead singer of the vibration boyz (since 1998 vibration kings), a backing vocalist and a bass guitarist for rita marley.Due to his numerous performance on stage he open shows for mighty diamonds, and “still pulse” as well as “ras kimono”, majek fashek, tuface, lucky dube, shabba ranking, shaggy, yellow man, muta baruka, culture, rita marley, will wonder, kelvin little, buju banton, michael asher, sizzla, anthony b, busy signal, jah coustix,the yard vibez crew and many more……
His pattern of music inspired artist like stone bwoy,shata wale, Black mexxiah,samini,mad fish,Yogi dogi, i wana nd many other which he groomed.
He played together with v.i.p, black prophet,Rocky dawoni, black Rasta,chizzy willa,sapez band, black berret,bawasaba band,root of David band, black empire band,othordeos band, kente band and many other.
In 2008 he recorded his first international album “cry of the sufferer” in georgetown gyana under “vizion sounds record” produced by Alabama and akim, mixed by Bobby digital in Jamaica,masterd in England by vizion sounds record.
He was nominated for “sting” in Jamaica In December 2008. In 2012 he moved to Germany where he since this time played on numerous stages in Berlin, and other country’s. Being a member of the berlin reggae scene, commander messiah is found as an opening artist for shows at famous berlin reggae club “yaam” and at dancehall shows organised by his african brothers “mighty timeless” and also supporting cultural events at “kaneval der kulturen” or “werkstatt deer kulturen” and charity shows just like “barefood for africa” and “action on words” by dr volkanikman.
In 2014 he joined jahcoustix and the yard vibez crew on their “frequency-europe tour”, on over 30 shows in germany, swiss, italy, austria, Ghana, portugal and spain like regea jam, rototom/regae gae, Africa unite and many other.
In 2016 he performed at the same shows together with “six nation band” and also he joined “pachango” and “unstoppable fyah” for the upcoming club tour “kaboom reggae night”.
In october 2016 he was nominated for afro-beat music award/Berlin in category reggae berlin september 2016.
He has since been recording until date with artist and bands all over the world.
