Shanti’s Mailbox News Bits [September 13, 2018]
News Bit 1
Ghanaian reggae-dancehall head, Iwan, launched his 7th studio album called "We Are gods" at the Rising Phoenix just last night.
It has been Iwan’s career custom to release a new album every 12th September each year to celebrate his birthday.


News Bit 2
Irie Ites Studio, Ghana’s most consistent reggae production house, has announced the release of its Mystic Roots Riddim album project. The album comes out this Saturday.
The tracklist consists of 19 songs by artistes like Paapa Wastik, Kojo Kombolo, Konkarah, Cruked Route, Burning Faya, Ras Charmer, Phocas, Iwan, Ras Kuuku, Blakk Mexxiah and others.

Ghanaian reggae icon, Paapa Wastik on last month end received the Key to New York city at WIADCA [West Indian American Day Carnival Association].
He received the key as a cultural ambassador award. The key was presented by Senator Jesse Hamilton.

Lyoni Jones, a new female reggae artiste emerging from Ghana, has gotten her first lovers rock reggae single ready for release any day soon next week.
The song which talks of her true love  story was built on a relationship reality which many can relate to.

Dancehall super star Sean Paul is having an outdoor VIP invite-only meet-and-greet session today on Fort Myers Beach, Florida.
The event is organized by Southwest Florida radio station 105.5 The Beat.
Paul will share new music from his Mad Love EP which he released earlier this summer.

BASS, the annual multi-media reggae festival, is coming in hot at this year’s 12th edition with an epic line-up of events throughout October in Birmingham while it celebrates 50 years of reggae.
Participation has been confirmed from luminaries including Steel Pulse, Freddie McGregor, Toots & The Maytals, Grammy-winning producer Phillip ‘Winta’ James, Carroll Thompson, and Christopher Ellis.
BASS2018 will also include a special four-week film series, which screen classic reggae-influenced movies.

Toots and The Maytals have added two new stops to their forthcoming UK tour.
The new shows, in Margate and Oxford, fall on October 25 and 26 respectively.
The legendary ska and rocksteady group will kick off the 13-date trek on October 10 at the O2 Institute Birmingham and end on October 27 at the Cheese and Grain in Frome.

One Love 2019 hits event headline news.
The One Love concert will be held at Tauranga Domain over Auckland anniversary weekend on Saturday (January 26) and Sunday (January 27)
Officially confirmed for performance are: Rebel Souljahz, Tribal Seeds, The Black Seeds, Stan Walker, DJ Javrasik, UB40, Ky Mani Marley; Maxi Priest; LaTasha Lee; Raging Fiyah; Katchafire; Fiji; Tomorrow People; General Fiyah and others.

The people of Luxembourg are getting the combined best of reggae and hip hop this Saturday off RootsTown Festival Luxembourg --- a reggae and hip-hop festival celebrating urban culture and the arts.
RootsTown Festival Luxembourg includes live music, art exhibitions, dance shows, DJ sessions, workshops and food.
News 10
Reggae Hip Hop head, Cruked Route, of the PlayConnect record label will resume studio sessions next month after a long Cruked’s resumption should have been in July, but his team pushed it forward for some reasons.
Cruked is returning to the studio to start work on his November release EP.
